By igniting more curiosity, care and discovery through conservation, animal welfare and education.
Through our extensive animal care and habitat conservation efforts, we connect more people to nature and educate millions of guests every year.
It’s our team of passionate animal experts – the largest group in any organisation worldwide – that make it all possible. Every day they work to deliver best practice animal care and rehabilitation, while also taking the time to share their knowledge through immersive educational experiences guests can enjoy at our zoos and aquariums.

By 2030 we will establish three dedicated Centres for Species Survival, focused on corals, sea horses and turtles. Between now and 2030 all Merlin locations will be actively delivering a conservation project. We will further breed and rewild at least 20 species of threatened animals and 100% of our animal welfare teams will complete one or more Animal Welfare Academy courses in welfare best practice.
We believe that nature’s wonder must be cared for
So we will contribute to reversing the decline of biodiversity in all regions with Merlin locations
So we deliver best practice animal care and rehabilitation
We're committed to the highest standards of animal welfare, wherever we have creatures in our care. In addition to owning SEA LIFE, the world’s largest aquarium brand, we also own and operate Chessington World of Adventures Resort in the UK, WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo and WILD LIFE Hamilton Island in Australia.
The SEA LIFE Trust was created to raise awareness of marine conservation and actively help to protect the world’s oceans and the marine life that lives within them. The Trust operates marine wildlife sanctuaries, runs inspiring conservation campaigns and funds projects and education programmes that champions plastic-free oceans, sustainable fishing, effective Marine Protected Areas and an end to over-exploitation of marine life.

The Chessington Conservation Fund (CFF) supports invaluable conservation work and inspires education within the Zoo. It backs charities and organisations, locally and globally to protect of endangered species and their natural habitats.
In 2018, Chessington welcomed four endangered Amur tigers from Kolmarden Wildlife Park in Sweden. CCF committed over £20k to support tiger conservation, specifically to WildCats Conservation Alliance and a project to develop effective human-tiger conflict resolution in Northeast China, where the Amur tiger is commonly found.
Chessington Zoo at Chessington World of Adventures Resort is involved with many national and international breading programmes for rare and endangered species. We work closely with the British & Irish Association of Zoos & Aquariums and the European Association of Zoos & Aquariums.
The WILD LIFE Conservation Fund is a not for profit organisation based in New South Wales. It's dedicated to supporting some of Australia’s leading research and conservation organisations, which protect Australian native habitats and the unique wildlife that lives within them.
